Two stores are open and a third is coming soon
Both open stores are Connecticut cannabis retailers for adults 21 and older, licensed by the Department of Consumer Protection: Derby holds license ACRE.0015686 and Hartford holds license ACRE.0015685.
We prioritize products from licensed Connecticut cultivators and processors.
How to pick the store nearer to you
Start with the town you are coming from. Our delivery page lists 14 towns served by Hi! People Derby, including Shelton, Milford and Stratford, and 11 towns served by Hi! People Hartford, including Glastonbury and Windsor. Find your town on one of those two lists and start with that store.
| Store | Where it is | How to shop it |
|---|---|---|
| Derby | Pershing Drive, by the Route 8 ramp | Bud Bar, pickup, scheduled delivery |
| Hartford | Market Street, Downtown neighborhood | Pickup |
| New Haven | State Street, East Rock area | Not open yet, opening news by sign-up |
Derby is the original store, close to Route 8
The Valley Independent Sentinel reported in 2024 that planning and zoning limited the city to one cannabis retailer, and that retailer is us.
On Route 8, Pershing Drive is now exit 13A, and the ramp is signed for Pershing Drive and Ansonia. The exit 13A ramp is about 0.25 km from the store. It is a northbound exit and a southbound entrance, so drivers heading south on Route 8 have no Pershing Drive exit, only the ramp back on.
Pershing Drive was exit 16 before mileage-based renumbering, so older directions may show a different number. Follow the signs for Pershing Drive and Ansonia. Our Route 8 driving guide walks through the drive.
We have free on-site parking at the store. By train, the Derby-Shelton station is at 1 Main Street.
This store is the home of the Bud Bar. Inside, the Bud Bar is toward the back of the showroom, and you do not need an appointment. It lets you view and smell cannabis strains before purchasing. NBC Connecticut reported in April 2025 that this store is the first in the state with a bud bar using U-shaped display cases. Hosts with iPads help you browse the menu and order. Find directions and the live menu on our store page with directions.
Hartford is downtown on Market Street
Our second store is at 306 Market St in the Downtown neighborhood. We chose 306 Market St for its visibility at the I-84 and I-91 intersection.
The store has free on-site parking and CT Transit bus access. If you are coming in by rail, Union Station at 1 Union Pl is a CTrail station, and it connects to CTfastrak bus rapid transit. Store details live on our downtown store page.
New Haven is coming soon at 1041 State Street
Our third store will be at 1041 State St in New Haven, in the East Rock area. The building is under construction, and we are not posting an opening date or hours yet. It will have the same Bud Bar experience as our original store.
New Haven State Street Station is at 259 State Street. Our address is farther north on the same street.
To hear when we open, sign up for opening news on our signup page for the new store. Until then, New Haven is on our original store's delivery list, so start an order on that live menu.
Town pages for nearby towns
Shelton and Milford are on our original store's delivery list, and the Shelton town page and the Milford town page start from there. The West Hartford town page and the East Hartford town page start from our downtown store, and both towns are on its delivery list.
All four of those towns appear on the town lists on our delivery page, and for any address, checkout shows whether delivery reaches it.
Ordering ahead, pickup and delivery
- Open the live menu for your store from our online shop. Online ordering is open 24/7.
- Order ahead for pickup. Both stores take pickup orders.
- For delivery, the original store's live menu takes scheduled delivery orders. For the downtown store, plan on pickup.
Only the adult who placed the order, 21 or older with ID that matches, can accept a delivery under Connecticut law. Current offers are posted on our deals page rather than on this page.
Questions shoppers ask about our locations
Is the New Haven store open yet?
No, not yet. Sign up on its store page for opening news, and shop either open store in the meantime.
Do I need a medical card to shop at Hi! People?
No. Our stores are adult-use cannabis retailers, so you need to be 21 or older, not a medical cardholder.
Can I pay with a credit card?
No. Neither store takes credit cards. Both stores take cash and debit cards, and the Derby store has an on-site ATM.
Is there one phone number for both stores?
Yes. Both stores share 860-420-BUDS (2837), so call that number for either one. For anything not covered here, see our FAQ page or go back to the Hi! People home page.
